STRENGTHENING NETWORKS OF CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANISATIONS FOR PUBLIC ADVOCACY ON CHILDREN’S ISSUES
The project, financed by the European Commission’s development funds, seeks to respond to the crisis of child policies that has been going on for years in Chile and the difficulty in public and private coordination to take measures.
Currently, the child poverty rate in Chile is very high, with 21.1% of its children living in poverty, and it is among the three countries with the highest poverty rates (OECD 2019). Chile is also facing a profound crisis in its system of care and protection for vulnerable children. This crisis is of such magnitude that a total of 1,836 people in state care have died in the last 15 years.
The expected impact over the three-year duration of the project is to strengthen the capacities and the collaborative ecosystem of civil society organisations (CSOs) for children in order to increase the impact on the development of social policies focused on vulnerable children, through innovative solutions.
Its two main lines of work are the following:
- – To make visible and strengthen the work of the Collaborative Network of CSOs for Children in order to promote their participation in the implementation of reforms and the development of new public policy proposals.
- – Strengthen children’s CSOs in their advocacy and impact capacities.
